Terms of Service

Last updated: 28 September 2026

These terms explain the rules for using Polyglot Subs. We've tried to keep them short and clear. By creating an account or using Polyglot Subs, you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use the service.

1. Who we are

Polyglot Subs (“Polyglot Subs”, “we”, “us”) is run by Evyatar Marom, Israel. You can contact us at support@polyglotsubs.com. Our postal address is available on request by email.

2. What Polyglot Subs is

Polyglot Subs is a language-learning service. It has two parts:

  • Learning subtitles that you add to Stremio, a free video app made by a separate company.
  • A Windows app that shows clickable words and learning tools on top of the video you're watching.

Polyglot Subs does not provide, host or sell any videos. It only adds subtitles and learning tools to what you watch. You are responsible for making sure you have the right to watch the videos you use it with.

3. Who can use it

You must be at least 16 years old to use Polyglot Subs. If you are under 18, a parent or guardian must agree to these terms for you.

Please give us a working email address and keep your login details safe. Tell us straight away if you think someone else is using your account. Your subscription is for you alone, so please don't share your account.

4. Free trial

New users get a 7-day free trial with full access. You don't need to give card details to start it. When the trial ends, you'll need a paid plan to keep using Polyglot Subs. There is one free trial per person.

5. Plans and payment

  • Polyglot Subs costs $3.99 per month or $34.99 per year, in US dollars. Sales tax or VAT may be added, depending on where you live.
  • Our order process is handled by our online reseller, Lemon Squeezy. Lemon Squeezy is the Merchant of Record for all our orders. It processes your payment, handles billing questions and sends your receipts. Its own terms of purchase also apply to your order.
  • Your subscription renews automatically at the end of each month or year until you cancel. At each renewal, you'll be charged the price of your plan.
  • If we ever change our prices, we'll email you at least 30 days before the change affects you. If you don't agree, you can cancel before the new price applies.
  • If a payment fails, we may pause your access until it's sorted out.

6. Cancelling

You can cancel at any time, using the link in your receipt email or by writing to support@polyglotsubs.com. After you cancel, you keep access until the end of the period you've already paid for. Then your subscription stops, and you won't be charged again.

7. Refunds

If you're not happy, you can get your first payment back in full within 14 days. The details are in our Refund Policy.

8. Using Polyglot Subs fairly

Please don't:

  • share, resell or rent your account or your access to the service;
  • copy, reverse-engineer or try to extract our software, dictionaries or lessons, except where the law allows it;
  • use bots or scripts to overload, scrape or disrupt our servers;
  • try to get around our limits, security measures or payments;
  • use Polyglot Subs to break the law or anyone else's rights.

If you break these rules, we may suspend or close your account. Where it's reasonable, we'll warn you first and give you a chance to put things right.

9. The Windows app

While your trial or subscription is active, we give you a personal licence to install and use the Windows app on your own computers. You can't transfer this licence to anyone else. We may release updates to fix problems or add features.

Any open-source parts of the app stay under their own licences.

10. Other apps and services

Polyglot Subs works with apps and services made by others, such as Stremio, Anki, Ollama and any AI chat you choose to use. We don't control them, and they have their own terms. Polyglot Subs is not affiliated with or endorsed by Stremio.

If one of these apps changes, some features may stop working for a while. We'll do our best to fix them quickly.

11. Learning content and AI

Our translations, dictionary entries and grammar notes are there to help you learn. We make them with care, but they can contain mistakes.

Explain with AI only prepares a question for you. The answer comes from the AI chat you paste it into, or from Ollama on your own computer, not from us, and it can be wrong too.

Please don't rely on any of this for anything important, such as legal, medical or official translations.

12. Who owns what

Polyglot Subs, including its software, design and lessons, belongs to us or the people we license it from. The dictionary data we use is credited on our Credits page and stays under its own licences.

Anything you make for yourself, like your Anki cards, is yours to keep.

13. Changes to the service

We keep improving Polyglot Subs, so features may change. If we make a change that takes away a major part of what you've paid for, we'll tell you. You can then cancel and ask for a refund for the unused part of your current period.

14. Availability

We work hard to keep Polyglot Subs running, but we can't promise it will always be available or free of errors. Sometimes we'll need to pause it for maintenance.

15. Closing your account

You can stop using Polyglot Subs and ask us to delete your account at any time.

We may close accounts that break these terms. If we ever stop offering Polyglot Subs altogether, we'll give you at least 30 days' notice and refund the unused part of any yearly subscription.

16. Our responsibility to you

Polyglot Subs is provided “as is”. As far as the law allows, we don't make any promises beyond those in these terms.

As far as the law allows, we are not responsible for indirect or unexpected losses. Our total responsibility to you is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim.

Nothing in these terms limits responsibility that the law doesn't allow us to limit, such as for fraud, or for death or personal injury caused by negligence. Nothing in these terms takes away your rights under consumer law.

17. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. If a change is important, we'll email you or show a notice on our website at least 30 days before it applies. If you keep using Polyglot Subs after that, you accept the new terms. If you don't agree, you can cancel.

18. Law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of Israel. If you live in another country, you also keep the protection of your own local consumer laws.

If you have a problem, please contact us first. Most issues can be sorted out quickly by email.
